Who wants to win 2 spaces for the Newham 10K?

There are certain race opportunities you just don’t want to miss out on, even if you have taken part in the event before, even if you have taken part in it a number of times before, because some races just get you like that.

I have lived in the London Borough of Newham most of my life, save going to winchester to bag myself a degree, and two short exertions to neighbouring boroughs that didn’t work out too well…so of course I am going to want to take part in their annual local race.

Now the race has changed over the years, as the landscape has…what with the London 2012 Olympics taking place right on my doorstep, but the thrill of running in and around the Olympic park…now known as The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, well its never been lost on me.

You can read about my past races here…all five of them!!!

  • The OUTRAGEOUS 10K I almost forgot 2011
  • It Could be YOU 2012
  • Back to the Stadium 2013
  • Run the Park 2014
  • Great Newham Run 2015

But I am here today to talk to you about 2017…which is set to be the best year ever…and not only because me and my Clubhouse ladies are taking part.

Taking place on the 17th July the Newham 10K event (suitable for anyone aged 15 years old and over) is part of an exciting day of running in London.

With the return of the Great Family Run a 2K event for children 5+ and their families this is an event not to be missed.

All runners in the 10k will get the chance to have their very own Olympic moment as they finish inside the Stadium and cross the famous finish line and running track, which saw Olympic greats Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah race across in 2012. The course will also take in the sights of Lee Valley VeloPark, the London Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box Arena….plus the park itself which is just lovely.
