The Fat Girls Guide to Running grew from humble beginnings in 2010 when it started life as a simple wordpress blog tracking Julie’s progress while training for her first marathon, and she’s simply been blown away by how much interest there has been over the years from all corners of the world.
Since leaving her job on London 2012 and focusing on this campaign full time the blog has really gone from strength to strength attracting over 500,000 unique visitors, being named in the Top 100 Running Blogs Worldwide, a finalist in the health category of the 2014 UK Blog Awards and was recently crowned best blog in the 2015 Running Awards.
A real highlight in the media campaign was Channel 4’s coverage of the Brighton Marathon 2014, Julie’s first big race after having her daughter Rose and also more recently being described as a global leader in Plus Sized Fitness by Body Exchanges Louise Green in this article which went viral on social media.
Most recently Julie has been getting the nation moving via This Mornings run for your life feature, where she used her 5 weeks to 5K coaching system to help absolute non runners learn to love the sport.
All 3 ladies finished their 5K run in wet conditions whilst being filmed live for the nation to see, and Julie continues to work with the ladies via The Clubhouse
