So there has of course been a bit of excitement over the London Marathon ballot result this month…I didn’t get a slot in case you were wondering. Training for a spring marathon is always tricky for me, as the spring is my busiest time…and to be quite frank I just don’t need the extra stress….

There are a million reasons why we run…well maybe not quite a million, but you get my drift. Our reasons are many and varied and at times they compete with each other…and here lies the problem. Many of us suffer with a lack of focus with our running, we just head out a few times…

At a guess I would imagine the average first time marathoner is in their late twenties? maybe its even later in life that desire to run long takes a hold. My daughter however first made her way round the iconic London Marathon route at only 5 weeks, no not 5 weeks old…5 weeks in gestation….

I follow a few thousand people on twitter, many of whom are runners of some description and I often see statements which make me raise an eyebrow, or wind me up slightly but I accept that this is part and parcel of this particular social media channel, so on the whole if someone really irritates…
