Training for a marathon is unlike training for any other race.

It will require,

– Discipline
– Commitment
– Time
– Effort
– Resources (ie some money)
– Know how

and most importantly

– A support team

a sense that you are not doing it all alone.

I trained for my 1st marathon in 2012. I could barely run to the top of my road at the starting point. And went from 0 to hero in roughly 6 months…managing a 5.50 finish.

In 2013 I set up an online challenge via Twitter where I found 16 ladies from around the world who wanted to run their first marathon in just 12 months, out of the 16, 8 went on to run full marathons, and 3 when on to run half marathons, many of these ladies are still enjoying the sport.

My 2nd Marathon I ran just 14 months after having my first child, and just weeks after a doctor told me I was “Too Fat to Run”

In 2015 I helped train 5 women to run the London Marathon with me, 5 novice runners who had never run a marathon before.

In 2016 we had more than 20 ladies at the start line.

In 2007 we had almost 30.

In November I will be running my dream race The New York Marathon and in April 2019 I will run London again for the 3rd and probably final time.

I love and hate marathons in equal measure….so much so I wrote a book about it.

I may not know all there is to know about elite marathon running, like getting a sub 3 hour finish, or the biomechanics of achieving negative spilts, but I do know EVERYTHING there is to know about being an overweight, middle aged woman, with family and a job, who wants to run a marathon.

I know all about the mindset required. The amount and quality of training needed. The lifestyle changes which will make it all easier, and the sacrifices that have to be made along the way to priorities your training.

The value of this package is worth in excess of £400, but we know marathon training is not cheap and I want to make this as accessible as I can to as many women as possible, because I know how lonely and scary doing this by yourself could be.

The cost of this 8-month programme is just £129…around £5 per week.

Also, this training group is suitable for all abilities and all shapes and sizes, this is not just a group for plus size runners.

Julie Creffield is England Athletics LIRF qualified. She has 3 marathons, one 42 mile ultramarathon, 2 Tough Mudders, 30+ half marathons, an Olympic Distance Triathlon and hundreds of smaller races under her belt.
She is considered one of the leading global experts in plus size fitness, and was recently listed in Running Worlds list of 70 most influential people in running.
