Spread the love

Was gonna put off writing this update, but what the hell…there’s no time like the present.

I almost went for a run today…I thought about it, I even went and looked at some new kit in the new running shop at Westfield Stratford City (will talk about that in another blog no doubt)

I last went for a run…wow…probably 2 months ago, maybe even 3…I did do some running on a treadmill a few weeks ago, but nothing significant. Actually I remember now, the last time I went for a proper run it was my first time at my local Parkrun. I have been to 2 parkruns before, but not ones near me so I was quite excited. I set off on this beautiful brisk morning on Wanstead Flats, I was clearly the slowest in the pack…there was a lady behind me at the start, but I thnk she slinked back off to her car when nobody was looking, cos I was definately the last one round. The 1st lap was fine, I kept at my own pace and just kept plodding along and then on the 2nd lap disaster struck and I tripped over a tree root and fell over, scrapping my hands in the dirt and smashing my left knee.

My pride was hurt but other than that there was no lasting damage, although the cut on my knee took a while to heal. I really should have gone back by now though. I mean I have a marathon to train for for goodness sake.

Oh did I not mention that. Yes, I have a charity place for next years London Marathon. So I have about 17 weeks to get myself prepared for those gruelling 26.2 miles. But no, that would be too easy wouldn’t it…nope I actually have less than 12 weeks, as I am off to Edinburugh for xmas on Friday, and then off backpacking around South East Asia for 5 week…back in early February.

Silly hey?

Anyway, after recieving my welcome pack from the London Marathon yesterday I have decided that I have to at least have a plan in place for when I return. So I have booked myself in for a half marathon (1st March) and a 16 miler (11th April) in the hope that they will help me to achieve the milage that I clearly need to get under my belt. I will also be calling in some favours from friends and family…my other half is gonna have to force me to get out of bed in the morning to don my trainers…and my running friends (please girls) are gonna have to motivate me too.

I so want to complete this marathon…I always said I would do one in 2012…which is also the reason I have started up my blog again. So feel free to add your comments…tell me I’m crazy, whatever!!! Anything to kleep me focussed.

I will try and keep you updated on my progress, wish me luck
