So in 2005 after coming dead last in a race and feeling remarkably cross that the finish line had been dismantled before I arrived I started a running blog. At the time I didn’t really know what blogging was, but figured I would use it like a diary and see if it would motivate me to train a bit harder so I never had to deal with that kind of embarrassment ever again. What I didn’t know back then was that anyone else would find it at all interesting, or in fact that I would discover that thousands of other fat women run too, or want to run but are simply too scared.
Roll forward nearly 5 years people are still reading my blog posts (quite a bit it seems) despite the fact my running hasn’t really improved that much, aside from the 3 marathons I’ve run I guess…but there is always the chance of coming last at an event, so I haven’t ruled it out completely….you just never know.
Social media has played an incredible role in getting my message out there, Twitter and more recently Facebook have helped me to create a real community of supporters and fellow athletes and today over on our incredibly interactive Facebook Page we reached 10,000 likes….10,0000 frigging likes…how the hell did that happen? So to celebrate this joyous moment this week I will be hosting a number of giveaways, where my loyal followers can have the chance to walk away with some fab goodies including…
- A Suunto Ambit3 Run White Sports Watch (Worth £200)
- A years FREE membership to The Clubhouse (Worth £120)
- A chance to come and train with me in London
- 2 goodie bag full of TFTR merchandise
- 10 copies of my ebook 5Weeks to 5K
To be in with the chance of winning one of these prizes all you have to do is record a short video (1-2 minutes) of yourself talking about your running and finish the film off with the statement “I follow the Fat Girls Guide to Running…and I am an Athlete”. We don’t care about the quality of the footage, just post it on the Facebook page and winners we be announced on 10th August.
The Suunto Ambit3 watch was kindly sent to me to review while I was working on This Morning, however seeing as I already own a sports watch I figured I would prefer to give it away to someone who could really use it.
The 3 participants I worked with on the Run for Your Life feature used their watches and found them invaluable in their journey towards becoming runners, and fed back to me great things about the various features of the watch.
I would like to thank Suunto for allowing me to use this item in this giveaway.
